I don’t know about you, but I have wasted many a day fixated on my misses and messes of yesterday and my over-planning or my dread of tomorrow.
I can do nothing about either yesterday or tomorrow except trust God fully about both.
He has made a new day for you and me to rejoice and be glad in!
This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
-Psalm 118:24 (NLT)
Today, His mercies are brand-new and His faithfulness is everlasting.
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT)
So if you are starting out today—and this new week—fretting about your misses and messes from days gone by or over-planning the days ahead in order to control your anxiety about them, I invite you to stop right now.
Quiet your mind.
Be still and know that He is God.
Psalm 46:10 (NLT)
He has made today for you and for me.
Leave your misses, messes, and anxiety at His feet, then ask Him for grace to both fully engage in and embrace this precious gift of 24 hours as you cross the threshold of your today.
Indeed, we have only today.
God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my life. (and my day!!!)
Psalm 54:4 (HCSB)
Let us begin–with God’s help.
